I would like to share a research about the communication struggles of one of the Colombian guerrillas, FARC-EP, with the Colombian army. I documented how radio-based communication became a crucial, but ambiguous infrastructure of war at FARC units. The sudden introduction of localization technologies by the Colombian army in 2000 presented a lethal threat to the guerrilla group. The data I collected during interviews in Colombia reports a severe learning process to diminish this new risk, relying on a combination of informed beliefs and significant technical understanding. This became an academic paper, that I am happy to share with Mesh community, especially because the Peace Agreement is on fragile ground amid a deepening humanitarian crisis.
